I would like to start by saying what a lovely place. We stayed for a week last week at no 23 and were very impressed with our premier lodge, to be fair it was spotless, and found that there was plenty of space, and storage for every one, the beds were really comfortable, and the hot tub was fantastic to, the only thing I can pick on is the road from the main road to the junction where you bare left to the site, its full of pot holes and rough, lets hope the local council will carry out some road maintenance soon.

Just come back off of a 7 night stay at the resort with my Dad, Sister, my Partner and my 2 children ages 4yrs and 1yrs.
Beautiful lodge in a lovely location! We stayed in number 11 and enjoyed having the sea views and being near the path leading down to the beach.
For a family friendly resort, I had expected a small park for the children to play in. None the less, they had a great time wading in the sea and collecting shells.

Now, you may be wondering why i’ve chosen to give a mere 3*?

The lodge itself was filthy!!! Cobwebs by the front door and doors leading out onto the decking, cobwebs in the bedroom.

En suite was disgusting. Toothpaste splashbacks on the undersink cabinet, mirror and shower door dirty. Back of bathroom door and wall also dirty! Shower floor and just outside was loose hair. No soap provided in en suite. Also had issues with sewage smell, granted that once we had reported it, it was sorted that day, but a couple of days later the same issue had arised, thankfully we were heading home the next day. Dishwasher in accommodation but no washing tablet provided? No frying pan, no fish slice, no spaghetti spoon. No measuring jug? Couldn’t use the bluetooth speaker as the power button had been pressed in so far it was broken. Games console provided was a playstation 4 but with no controllers and no lead/plug. Board games had missing pieces so couldn’t play them. No towels provided in one of the bedrooms.

Don’t even get me started on how DISGUSTING the floors were! My 1yr old scoots around merrily on the floor, not a problem it should be clean – wrong! She was covered in hair and dust! On closer inspection, under the dining table, corners, edges, under coffee table was just filth. Everyones socks needed a good clean as they became black! Carpets in bedrooms had black hair everywhere, in one of the bedrooms there was dust and tissues under the beds! Top of wooden beds dusty!

Upon leaving we lifted the sofas to make sure no toys had gone astray – low and behold, dust and tissues!!

Checked all draws and found the previous owners hairbrush – filled with long black hair! Same hair that was in the shower, over the carpets?

Now, Staff at the accommodation – once, when leaving our site we were not aware that the wooden gates were automatic upon approaching (not something you would think off as the gates open inwards, so when leaving the park you have to drive up to the gates then reverse as the gates open) a bloke came up to the car and rather abruptly told us the gates were automatic and we needed to drive closer to be recognised.

Had a wander into reception/restaurant to see what we could find at the shop or look at the menu, no one came over to see if they could be off any help, instead carried on chatting to one another at the bar. Decided not to approach to ask for a menu as felt we were being inconvenient. Just as well as the menu doesn’t offer much unless you are a lover of pizza and burgers.

I think the retreat is far from being a 5* at the moment due to its cleanliness, lack of practical kitchen equipment and stuff for kids to do.
