Why Isle of Wight Breaks are the Best

Nearly 50% of the Isle of Wight is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 30 miles of the coastline is protected by the Heritage Coast. If you enjoy scenic walks or bike rides you are really going to be in your element here, there are cycle hire options available nearby.

If you are an aviation fan, you can also admire the splendour of the natural environment of the Isle of Wight from the sky with pleasure flights available locally.

There are also nautical pleasures on offer close by, with Woodside Coastal Retreat being just a short distance from Cowes which is famous for its annual Cowes Week which is one of the longest running regatta’s in the world with the first event having been held way back in 1826. In the first week of August each year 40 races are held each day with over 1,000 competitors entering into the competition with skills ranging from Olympic professionals to amateurs. It really is an event which has to be seen to be believed.

This is all part of the rich culture on the Isle of Wight, with major events such as the Isle of Wight festival which is a mecca for music fans in June of each year and numerous art galleries scattered across the region.
History buffs are also unlikely to get bored in this region, with various sites of historic significance including St. Catherine’s Oratory – a medieval lighthouse on the south coast of the Island which was first lit in 1328. Another site of note is the stunning Bembridge Windmill which was built in 1700 and is now the only remaining windmill on the Isle of Wight.

With all of the attractions and activities on offer, if you’ve only been looking for short breaks in the Isle of Wight you may want to look at extending your stay.
