Explore Surrey & Beyond From Tilford Woods
Our gorgeous Surrey holiday park may be situated in the midst of peaceful woodland, but that doesn’t mean that you will be lacking for things to do around Farnham and the surrounding Surrey region.
We’ve put together a short list of some of the visitor attractions that you may wish to frequent during your next visit to Tilford Woods Lodge Retreat:
Recommended Local Attractions
Head Into Tilford Village
Right on the door step of the resort is the village of Tilford which has its own Rural Life Centre, considered to be the largest countryside museum in the South of England. The exhibits on show comprise of a large number of devices and tools which have been used for farming over the past 150 years.
It also showcases what life has been like over the years for residents in Tilford Village with wartime exhibits, Victorian domestic activities and also has an old kiln light railway which is operated by enthusiastic volunteers.
If you’re simply looking for a bit of fresh air, then Tilford also plays host to some fantastic walking routes suitable for both man and dog. Don’t forget to take a hamper and blanket with you on your walk as the nearby Frensham Common offers beautiful inland beaches, making it the ideal location for soaking up some sun whilst tucking in to a traditional picnic.
Maintaining the relaxing vibe, you may like to head to Frensham Trout Fishery which is just 2 miles away from our resort. This boasts 6 well stocked lakes which are nestled in a beautiful wooded valley. The perfect solution for anyone who has been on the search for fishing holidays.
Slightly closer to home is the fabulous Duke of Cambridge Village Pub which is situated right next to Tilford Woods. The scrumptious offerings here are sure satisfy, with only the finest local ingredients used to create mouth watering feasts which will be a treat for all.
Golf Holidays in Surrey
Tilford Woods is regularly used as the base for golf holidays in Surrey thanks to our convenient position right next to Hankley Common Golf Club.
This fantastic 18 hole course was designed by renowned architect James Braid in 1922 and is commonly regarded as one of the best golf courses in the UK thanks to its beautiful woodland surroundings and fast running fairways which make it akin to a links golf course.
When you stay in one of the lodges in Tilford Woods, you will enjoy direct access to this course which is just a two minute jaunt away from our resort. You won’t even need to get in the car; simply wake up each morning and enjoy the knowledge that another day of golf is just a short walk way.
Farnham & London City Trips
Just under 5 miles up the road is the local market town of Farnham. From here you can navigate the narrow streets of this quaint town to discover all sorts of hidden treasures and perhaps pick up a memento from your trip away.
The town also plays host to many other pieces of historical and cultural interests, such as the historic castle, abbey ruins and culturally-enriching museum.
Farnham is also well connected to the surrounding area with its train station, which has direct lines to London and can be reached in approximately 50 minutes. This means that the many attractions which are on offer in the country’s capital are within easy reach for holiday makers who are staying at Tilford Woods.
Simply park your car up at Farnham station, grab the direct train to the capital and explore the shops at Oxford Street, catch a show in the West End or spot a famous face or two at Madame Tussauds.
The fact that the capital is so easily reachable from the resort, makes Tilford Woods a holiday resort for anyone who is looking for an alternative to a London city break, where you can still take advantage of the attractions without being forced to stay in a city centre hotel.
Family Friendly Attractions
There are also plenty of family friendly attractions within driving range which do not require a trip to London.
Quite close to home is Birdworld in Farnham which is a 26 acre attraction, and is one of England’s largest bird parks with over 150 species of bird on site. Also available at this attraction is Underwater World and the Jenny Wren Children’s Farm, where kids can pet and feed the animals. This really is a great destination for all family members, regardless of their age.
The more adventurous amongst you will also be interested to hear that Thorpe Park is just a 40 minute drive from the resort. Brave the Saw ride and Nemesis Inferno or have a slightly less adrenalin fuelled experience on the Angry Birds 4D experience.
