I booked by telephone. I was described a modern caravan with decking and sea views. The caravan we were given was none of the above. It was very scruffy, there wasn’t any decking nor sea views and the area outside was overgrown with weeds, brambles and nettles. This was our 4th or 5th stay at this park. Previous visits were good, which is why we came back, but this was not value for money and I won’t use this park again.
We were short of bed linen which we asked for on arrival but never got.
To start with I have been coming to this park with my wife and kids for the last 8 years, my kids love Swanage. We arrived on the Park Saturday 16th July, unpacked and headed straight for the club house, we ordered food at 7pm only to be informed half on hour later, 3/4 off what we had ordered was not available. We eventually ordered (Pizza’s) @ 8pm,recieving these between 9-9.30pm. Over the years I fully understand that seasonal staff take time to bed in, but this has been on going for some 3 years now and it has to be the worst I have ever experienced, both as hiring and as an owner. It was explained after speaking to the site management the next day (no one available that evening, no site management on a Saturday night!!! Bar staff were really good though) the chef had left, an agency chef was in place and it was his first night with no food available!!!! I asked why they even took food orders on this basis? I did receive an apology. Tonight I returned to the club house which is both used by owners (some £3.5K a year rent) and people hiring caravans only to find out the club house has been full hired out for a private function from 6pm ( I bet this is not explained when a caravan is being sold), this is the start of the season !!!! Owners and hired caravan people not allowed, something I believe are people paying for this site and being ignored.
I do hope the senior management review this park and focus hiring caravans and owners again.
Great location and within walking distance of the seaside. Friendly staff in reception, must say the use of the indoor pool is expensive for a basic pool , campers should have a good discount not paying approx £12 for a family of 3, not many showers which is a pain when there’s a lot of campers , also need topping up on loo roll more often and a clean , apart from that the views are fantastic and not to strict on a bit of noise in the evening. I’ve been coming here every year and always have a wonderful time
Had a fantastic break, we arrived on Friday the 8th September, just in time for the folk festival, the caravan was great, but we should have had a sea view and not valley views, but that didn’t matter.
We had a great time, we went swimming, Saturday and Sunday, the pool was great, but not many people using it.
The reason for the break, is I suffer with PTSD, I needed to have a change and I’m glad I did. Hoping, to come again next year, but longer if possible, thank you for a nice break.
Have told friends, all about the caravan park and Swanage, again thank you.
I have spent over the years thousands of pounds staying in hotels and Bed/breakfasts around the country. I had no idea a caravan park existed and now I have found a beautiful scenic place that feels like my own home. It came to the end of my short stay a I did not want to leave, in fact I now want to buy a static home.
The staff at Swanage Bay Park are so friendly, I had a wonderful nights sleep listening to the wind and the seagulls, so peaceful, so easy to go out and about and the home was so bright, spacious and clean.
Unlike hotels and Bed/breakfast breaks you can cook, make your own tea, watch TV, visit the pool and gym, stroll around the park with your dog, entertain friends visiting the area what more can you want from a holiday?
The only down side for me was having to go home.
