Yoga Classes in Pocklington, East Yorkshire
Yoga is an ancient practice which originates from India where it is still regarded as a spiritual practice. Even without the elements of spirituality which are traditionally integrated with the practice, yoga movements and forms have many health benefits and can promote strength, wellbeing and improvements in flexibility and posture.
Pure Yoga is more of a traditional yoga class, with techniques and positions taken from various forms such as Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga. It is a perfect way to build upper body and core strength whilst relaxing the mind. Yoga Tone combines yoga movements with other modern exercises and equipment to provide a whole body workout which promotes overall fitness and wellbeing. Both classes can help improve breathing and balance.
Our Yoga Class Format
The yoga instructor will usually position him or herself at the front of the studio and demonstrate each movement. He or she will then walk around the class, checking to make sure that participants are correctly positioned in order to reduce the risk of injury and enhance the benefits of practice.
Many yoga positions are performed on a mat, lying or sitting down, whilst others involve standing up and often challenge and improve a person’s balance. The yoga tone class may involve non-yoga movements such as squats and bicep curls with resistance in the form of a band or small weight.
Yoga can be utilised as a great way to help rehabilitate injuries or postural problems but please let our instructors aware of any potential contraindications or injuries which could be made worse by specific movements.

What Should I Bring to a Yoga Class?
Mats will be provided but many practitioners choose to invest in their own after a number of lessons.
Please ensure that you wear suitable loose fitting clothing or potentially lycra sportswear. Some of our gym members even choose to invest in specific yoga clothing.
