Binsey Fell just across the main road is around a 45 minute to one hour’s hike each way along uneven terrain. From the top are panoramic views towards the Cumbrian Fells, Solway Coast, the Pennines and on a clear day the Irish Sea and Isle of Man on the horizon. A short drive away are family friendly forest walks at Dodd Wood and Whinlatter Forest, and beyond are lake Derwent Water near Keswick and Aira Force waterfall at Ullswater.

Are there any walks direct from the site?
Can you use bikes around the resort?
Yes you can, but please follow the same rules around the resort as you would use outside of it. We’d strongly advise that you wear helmets and reflective clothing if you or any other members of your party are planning on using bikes, heelies, scooters or skateboards. We also advise that children be supervised at all times.
Holiday Break Questions
Are hairdryers and irons provided?
Yes, all lodges come with a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board.
Are pets allowed to stay with us at the resort too?
Yes, pets are more than welcome to stay at our resort with a number of pet friendly lodges available for holiday makers. All pet lodges come with a pet gate on the outside decking area.
We do however request that you include your pet on your booking when arranging your stay at Keswick Reach. For more information about this and our policies, please give us a call on 01768 776 510.
It is also worth highlighting that pets are also permitted inside the Copper Fells Bar, which is located on-site.
Are there any board games provided in the lodges?
Yes, there are several family favourites provided in each Lodge, plus playing cards and books are available for purchase in our Corner Shop.
Are towels provided in the lodges in Keswick Reach?
Both towels and bed linen are provided in all of our accommodation at Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat. We also provide towels for guests using our Ammara Spa treatment rooms and Relaxation Suite.
Are you allowed BBQs at Keswick Reach?
Unfortunately, BBQs are not permitted at Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat on account of us being in an environmentally sensitive area of the Lake District National Park.
Can I arrange a shopping delivery?
Yes, this is fine. We kindly ask that you are there to collect any items from the driver in the main car park by Reception, as access for larger vehicles to the lodges is restricted.
Do the lodges have a welcome pack?
All lodges have a booklet outlining details of the retreat’s facilities, amenities and information about the local area. We provide toiletries in the main bathroom, and in the kitchen there is a small welcome tray of tea, sachet coffee, sugar, UHT milk and biscuits. There is also a mini cleaning parcel including a sponge, scourer, washing up liquid, bin liners and dishwasher tablets. Lodges with log burners also have a small starter pack of firelighters, kindling and logs with extra wood items available for purchase and collection at Reception.
Does my lodge have a hot tub, a view or a log burner?
Lodges with “Premier” in their name will have hot tubs – this should also be stated in the lodge’s description. “Select” lodges have either a view or a secluded location; again this should be stated in the accommodation’s description. Please contact your booking agent to check whether you have booked a lodge with a log burner. Any upgrades or changes will need to be carried out by your booking agent.
How far away is are Keswick and Cockermouth from Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat?
Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat is located approximately 10 miles away from Keswick itself and approximately 10 miles away in the other direction from Cockermouth. This journey takes about 15 minutes normally by car in either direction.
Is there a shop at the resort?
Keswick Reach offers a small range of locally-sourced goods including everyday essentials, breakfast items and a selection of gifts such as jams, sweets and cuddly toys.
Is there a supermarket close to Keswick Reach?
There are Co-op and Booths supermarkets located in the town of Keswick, a Sainsbury’s, Lidl and Aldi in Cockermouth, a Lidl and Co-op in Maryport, and a Morrisons, Tesco, Aldi and Asda in Workington.
Is there any public transport available from the site?
Stagecoach bus service number 554 stops near our park, with three to four services per day running direct to Keswick and to Carlisle. Carlisle railway station is approximately 22 miles away and Penrith railway station around 26 miles. Local taxi services are also available, our staff can happily provide contact details once you arrive.
Is there parking available next to each holiday lodge?
Each of our Keswick lodges have their own parking space. Additional parking is located throughout the retreat.
Is there Wi-Fi available?
While signal strength cannot be guaranteed, we do provide Wi-Fi free of charge to all guests.
Are cots and highchairs provided in the lodges?
Cots and highchairs can be hired at a charge of £15.00 each, either in advance with our booking agent Hoseasons or once you arrive. Please note that we are NOT allowed to provide any mattresses or bedding in cots under any circumstances and that travel cots do not fit in the bedrooms of any of the Constable or Ruskin lodges. Highchairs are available free of charge when dining in Copper Fells bar and brasserie. We also provide bed guards for young children free of charge.
Can I plug an interactive stick or computer game into the lodge TV
No, as this is restricted by a third party firewall and not compatible with our systems, which can also interrupt with the TV and WiFi in the lodge and can take time to reset.
Is there a DVD player in the lodge?
DVD players are not provided, but these are fine to plug into the back of the lodge TV with an HDMI cable if you bring your own. We have a very limited stock of DVD players, a small selection of DVDs and HDMI cables available to hire and return during Reception opening hours for a returnable £20 cash deposit. If you experience any problems with connecting the DVD player, our retreat staff will be happy to assist during reception hours.
What is Darwin Escapes' dog policy?
We’re pet-friendly, but do have a few rules to ensure the park can be enjoyed by pet-owners and non-pet-owners alike.
We ask that no dogs, pets, or animals of any kind may occupy a non pet unit without the prior permission of the Park Manager. (This can be achieved by including your pet on your booking form to ensure you are allocated a pet-friendly unit).
a. Where allowed, all pets must at all times be kept under proper control and must not enter any facility building, (excluding guide dogs) except the Copper Fells bar area and the outdoor Dog Wash.
b. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and prevented from fouling.
c. All fouling should be disposed of immediately in an appropriate manner.
d. In accordance with the Dangerous Dog Act 1991, the following breeds of dog are not permitted anywhere on the park at any time: Pit-bull Terrier Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Braziliero as well as any other breed at the Park Manager’s discretion.

If you are planning on navigating to us without the aid of 21st century tech, then from the South come off the M6 at junction 40 and follow the signs for the A66 towards Keswick. At the second roundabout on the A66 after the flyover, take the 3rd exit onto A591 towards Carlisle and continue on this road. The turning to the park is on the left after the second sign for Keswick Reach. (Do not turn left at the first sign as this will take you down a gravel track.) If approaching from the East on the A595, turn left onto the A591 at Bothel and continue straight for approx. 2 miles. The turning to the park is on your right and is sign posted.

Can I order a takeaway from Copper Fells
Yes, on Monday to Saturday 5pm-8.45pm (but not on Sundays). A copy of all menus are available in each lodge and on the Copper Fells Bar and Brasserie web page. Orders can only be made, paid for and collected in person at the bar as we are unable to take telephone orders or make a delivery. Please note that there may be a wait of up to an hour during busier periods.
Do I have to pay to use the gym?
A free Gym pass is available to all holidaymakers aged 18 years and over staying at the resort, for a £10 returnable cash deposit after completing a short induction during Reception opening hours. Guests aged 16 and 17 years may use the Gym facilities but must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
How much does it cost to book the relaxation suite?
The adults-only Relaxation Suite can be booked at a price of £10.00 per guest for one hour. This can be booked either at the Ammara Spa or Reception once you’re checked-in on-park.
Is there a treatment menu available online for the Ammara Spa?
Yes, and there are a range of treatments available. The treatment menu is available to view on our Ammara Spa page.
