Things to do in the Lake District
Our Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat is located in a secluded part of the Lake District but within driving distance of the stunning Derwent Water. This is a truly stunning region, with Derwent Water being surrounded by must see natural scenery, including several hills and woodlands. It is also home to Derwent Island House which is an 18th century home, now owned by the National Trust, and is now occasionally open to the public. The house and lake are surrounded by an extensive network of footpaths which make it easy for visitors to explore an area that is blessed with outstanding natural beauty. Did you know that Derwent water was recently used as a filming location for the box office smash hit Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens? It provided the backdrop in the area surrounding Maz Kantana’s castle.
Derwent Water is also a mecca for fishing enthusiasts, but is also a great place to visit if you are simply looking to chill out in a tranquil environment.
Of course, the Lake District is famous for glorious walking areas such as this and Derwent Water is not the only location nearby just waiting to be explored. There is also the Catbells Lakeland walk and Whinlatter Forest Park to name a few, other family friendly attractions worth noting in the area are the Keswick Railway Path, Keswick museum and Honister Slate Mine.
