There is an abundance of Christmas celebrations in Yorkshire but we’ve chosen our top picks below. Delve into the perfect festive atmosphere in the Yorkshire countryside on the lead up to Christmas this year. There are plenty of Christmas Markets to be found in various small towns across the county so you’re bound to find a range of unique presents for all your loved ones whilst enjoy the festive entertainment on offer too! We’ve put together a list of all the best Christmas Markets to visit if you’re planning a trip to Yorkshire before the Christmas holidays begin. Read on for more details…


st nicholas fair, York

Where: York, YO1 8RU / When: 15th – 23rd Dec / Times: 10am – 8pm

At the St Nicholas Fair, you can meander through the traditional stalls which sell some of the best arts, country crafts and seasonal gifts such as jewellery, tree decorations and ceramics. There will also be an array of handmade soaps and chocolates. For those hoping to catch a glimpse of Santa, you’ll be in luck! Father Christmas himself will be making a special visit to the York market so pop to see him and let him know what’s on your wish list. There will be activities in abundance so why not put on some skates and get on the ice rink? Or get your little ones to take part in some festive craft-making.


christkindlemarkt market

Where: Leeds, LS1 1UR / When: 9th Nov – 22nd Dec / Times: 10:30m – 9:30pm

These annual German markets transform the Millennium Square in Leeds into a Christmas wonderland for all ages to enjoy, with over 40 traditional wooden chalets which will be hosting local businesses who have lovingly crafted goodies for you to purchase during your Christmas shopping. Wander the streets and marvel at the handmade toys, beautifully crafted jewellery and wondrous decorations all available for you to buy, the handmade gifts from local makers could offer you that unique gift you’ve been looking for. There will also be delicious street food on offer, including a host of authentic German delicacies. There will also be a small funfair and Christmas Carousel available for the children to enjoy, and during the weekend you could join Santa for breakfast in the Alp Chalet (at an extra cost), and enjoy the weekly children’s show which includes face painting, sing-alongs, arts and crafts workshops, as well as fun balloon modelling, there will be something to keep everyone entertained at Leeds’ Christkindlemart.


Wakefield christmas market

Where: The Hepworth, WF1 5AW / When: 23rd – 25th Nov & 30th Nov – 2nd Dec / Times: 9am – 5pm

The Wakefield Christmas Market has grown over the years that it is now over 2 weekends, allowing visitors to enjoy extra festive shopping at one of Yorkshire’s most popular Christmas shopping markets. There will be over 80 independent businesses taking up residences at the markets, so you will be sure to find that perfect gift for that special someone in your life, or even a wonderful Christmas gift for yourself. Makers and traders will be selling wonderful jewellery, beautiful prints from talented artists, handmade cosmetics, wonderful candles and stationary, as well as delicious artisan food and drink available to delight all.

Where: Duncombe Park, YO62 5EB / When: 16th & 17th Nov / Times: 9:30am – 4pm / Prices: £10

This ticketed event is all in aid of the NSPCC, with 100% of the proceeds going straight to the charity. There will be around 70 stalls, which have been carefully selected to offer stunning gifts, decorations, jewellery, homeware and interiors as well as fashion and clothing items available. There will also be a fun raffle in aid of the charity, with fantastic prizes and some beautiful food and drink on offer too.


Pocklington christmas market

Where: Town Centre, YO42 2AB / When: 7th Dec / Times: 10am – 4pm

Pocklington’s Christmas Market is a popular event in the community calendar and is only a 6 minute drive (or less than 30 minutes walk, if you fancy the fresh air!) from our luxurious KP Resort. There will be a selection of stalls to browse around alongside some yummy food and drink stands! A live radio roadshow has been promised and there will be plenty of live music to keep you in the festive mood whilst you shop. Head down between 5pm and 9pm to get involved with the celebrations or pop into Santa’s Grotto which will be set up in the local church.
