Harman Cross Field Day

At: Harman Cross Village Hall, BH19 3EB

This annual community event is always a huge hit with families. The traditional village fete has all the classic attractions, including flower and vegetable shows, a craft marquee, a wonderful dog agility display, fabulous children’s entertainers, afternoon teas and a beer tent! There are tombola’s, raffles, amusements, children’s rides and trade stalls to browse throughout the day!


Purbeck Valley Folk Festival

At: Purbeck Valley Farm, BH20 5HU

A weekend long family focused festival, as well as outstanding live music on offer, there’s more than just music here. The children’s zone has endless fun, including storytelling, juggling and circus skills, face painting, arts and crafts and puppet shows! As well as the regular Space Hopping Obstacle Course, missile throwing hoopla and well waging! Along with the bar and food tent for the adults and a fantastic poetry slam, you can also put your face fuzz to the test at the annual Beard Off!


Swanage RNLI Lifeboat Week

At: Throughout Swanage Village

The Lifeboat Week is a hugely popular event in Swanage, with the favourite Build-a-Boat challenge when contestants must build a boat with materials provided and only have 4 hours to do it! Then they must race from Stone Quay to Main Beach, the first boat to make it to Main Beach wins £50! Throughout the week you can also enjoy a raft race, raffle draws, open days as well as live music, bar and BBQ’s.


Civil War Encampment

At: Corfe Castle, BH20 5EZ
When: 14th August – 2nd September. 10am – 5.30pm
Prices: Adult £10.50 / Child £5.30

Step back in time all throughout the summer holidays to the English Civil War, which took place between 1642 and 1651. Explore the ruins of the castle and go on a journey discovering what a real 17th century war encampment was really like. Sign your way into Corfe’s garrison and get stuck into the interactive experiences on offer, from recruitment and armoury to domestic arts, cooking and even surgery! This is sure to be a fascinating day out for all the family at a stunning location!


Open Air Theatre

At: Corfe Castle, BH20 5EZ
When: 11th – 18th August, 7pm – 9.30pm

Corfe Castle hosts the fantastic Hound of the Baskervilles play this summer, expertly brought to life by Illyria (equity). Watch as the greatest fictional detective of all time, Sherlock Holmes, and his fantastic assistant Doctor Watson, take on the most befuddling case their characters ever had, you will love this cheeky and chilling adaption of a true classic story. Enjoy the tales in the open air and stunning Corfe Castle backdrop.


17th Century Murder Mystery

At: Corfe Castle, BH20 5EZ
When: 15th August, 6.30pm – 9pm
Prices: Adult £10 / Child £7.50

Enjoy a delicious evening picnic surrounded by the striking castle ruins and join the local drama group, Double Act, as they present you with a murder mystery that has taken place in the castle grounds. Try to follow to the deadly plots, tales of suspicion and revenge of witches as you watch the story unfold before you, can you solve the 17th century murder and the mystery of the lost treasure?


Dorset Waterpark

At: Artfleet Mill Lakes, BH20 5JG
When: Open 7 days a week, 10am – 6pm
Prices: £15 (booking essential)

The Waterpark is a huge woodland water park with two fun and different obstacle courses over two lakes. The one-hour session allows for half an hour of endless water based fun at each lake, with the courses having trampolines, climbers, monkey bars, wiggle bridges and the popular flip bag! Ice cream, drinks and hot food is available from the Snack Shack, with parking and changing rooms on site. Make sure to check the dress code before attending. Try out the fabulously messy Dorset Mud Trail which is brand new for 2018!
