family fun days

At: Conwy Castle, LL32 8AY.
When: 27th July – 31st August. 11am – 4pm.

Visit one of Wales’ most beautiful castles and enjoy traditional Medieval games, including have-a-go archery and sword fighting, as well as being able to handle the stunning birds of prey and learning how these beautiful birds were used in Medieval times. Weaponry will also be on display for you to marvel at all the tools used back in the day.


summer fun at Erddig

Enjoy something for everyone at Erddig all through summer, including meeting the beekeepers, storytelling sessions, campfire cooking mornings with the friendly rangers and fabulous seed planting sessions where you can learn all about the garden and how things grow!

Back by popular demand! This event is ideal for those who crave adventure, and what better time to explore the adventurous side of you than Wales’ find your epic year! Climb to the top of the trees on the estate and take in the view of the 1,200 acre estate from the top. Experts will guide you up the trees, and help you use the ropes and harnesses needed.

The events entertainment highlight for 2018 is Matt Coulter, also known as the Kangaroo Kid as he hails from the Gold Coast of Australia. Coulter will perform fantastic stunts on quad bikes with an impressive stunt show to wow all – Coulter even has a range of Guinness Book of Records to his name! Stroll through the display of stationary engines, tractors, cars, commercials vehicles and watch the working demonstrations of farm equipment. Make sure to check out the competitions, including a companion dog show, horticulture, fur and feather, light horses, show jumping and livestock. Children will love the Kidzone, with Punch and Judy shows, storytelling and other puppetry performances. Head over to the food and drink section for some tasty delights to tickle every taste buds and cookery demonstrations.

Can you help find out the real name of the Prince who is stuck as a frog? Follow the trail with the Knight Princess and find the hidden doors to the animal homes around the Pleasure Ground Wood and see if they know the frog Princes’ real name!


battle of crogen medieval weekend

At: Chirk Castle, LL14 5AF
When: 1st & 2nd September. 11am – 4pm

Chirk Castle is commemorating the 1165 Battle Crogen, which took place in Ceiriog Valley and was between King Henry II and all the combined forces of the Welsh princes. Cwmwd Ial, a local re-enactment group will be representing the Welsh forces, while Les Miles des Marches will represent Henry II and the English foes. There will be different encampments to explore, lots of armour to view and new things to learn about the everyday life back in 1100’s. A fun day for the whole family!

The fantastic Knights of Ardudwy are recruiting this summer at Harlech Castle, why not drop in and test your skills, offering everything from sword fighting to archery. The perfect time to learn what it takes to be a true Welsh Knight.

Enjoy a fun packed family weekend with Alchemy Dragons and Flostsam the Fool at Harlech Castle! Take a stroll around the castle and meet baby and carnival dragons, don’t miss the procession and listen to tales about your new fiery friends! You will also be able to learn circus skills and make your own kite at the craft stations!


Rhyl air show

Oo and ahh as the impressive aerobatic displays will take to the skies including the world famous Red Arrows, and a whole host of exhibitions, trade stands, food court and onsite entertainment on the ground too! An event that draws tens of thousands of people every year, located along the promenade in a beautiful setting around Rhyl.
