Falmouth Spring Festival
When: 15th March – 2nd April / Where: Various Venues in Falmouth
Join in on this spring celebration of culture, community and coast, which will be fun for all the family! On the first day of the festival, nearly 100 shop windows will be ablaze with yellow, having been decorated by local schoolchildren using thousands of daffodils to mark the start of Spring. Visit Castle Beach for a rock-pooling session on 18th March, where Profession Tom Tregenza and his team will help you find and identify each species in a rock pool and showing you how it had adapted to its surroundings, a fun interactive and educational event for all the family. Various pubs in the town will be hosting ‘Science in the Pub’ events, which are fun and free nights held by leading scientists from Exeter University. Grab a drink at the bar and settle in to be amazed by demonstrations and experiments. Attend the Falmouth Spring Flower Show, which marks the start spring, and has done so for over 50 years with beautiful bright blooming spring flowers! The Moor will be hosting free games and fitness events on 25th March for all the family to get stuck in and enjoy! A spring festival full of family fun in Falmouth this Easter.
Blast from the Past
When: 30th March – 15th April / Where: Pendennis Castle
Meet the Tudors and travel back in time at the beautiful Pendennis Castle this Easter. Discover how the castle garrison defended the coast, learn the history of the castle and the area at this fun and interactive event, where you’ll hear muskets roar and even the littles can take part in kids drills activities throughout the day too. Then take a stroll to explore the grounds and discover all the hidden history that Pendennis Castle has to offer.
Quest for the Golden Egg
When: Through Easter Holidays / Where: Pirates Quest / Booking Required, Call 01637873379
Captain Blackbeard has set a special mission to locate the legendary Golden Egg, so join in the crew and be taken back 300 years and jump aboard the Royal Annie shop. The Royal Annie was a real ship that left England in 1721 for the Caribbean, but it wrecked on the coast of Cornwall along the way, never completing its journey, and legend has it, there was gold on the ship. A real-life pirate will be rescuing those sinking on the Royal Annie (you) and taking them through a secret passageway into Cornwall. This will pirate will take you through magnificent sets and scenes from 18th Century Cornwall to look for clues about the ever-elusive Golden Egg. Visitors will have the option to venture into the live scare section of The Locker of Davy Jones, but beware this is the for the very brave only! Live actors play the many roles of pirates to make this unique experience and interactive family fun hit!
Big Easter Egg Hunt
When: 24th March – 15th April / Where: Flambards
Flambards will be hosting eggscellent activities all throughout the Easter holidays, including the BIG Easter Egg Hunt, where you can explore the park and see how many eggs you can find to win a chocolatey treat. Or head indoors to the fabulous Victorian Village for the eggtastic Victorian Easter Quiz Trail, where you’ll get a copy of the Penny Dreadful to explore the village and discover some interesting facts about the era. Visit the Jurassic Journey to the Discover Dinosaur exhibition, you’ll be greeted by fantastic Jurassic-themed scenes, you’ll also come face to face with ferocious Velociraptors, a dozen different dinos, plus some giant dino eggs and a nest of Pteranodon hatchlings. Head over to the Dino Dig to discover some hidden fossils and even a sabretooth tiger skeleton! Easter at Flambards is full of fun and family entertainment.
