What’s on in Cheddar for Easter 2018?

Visit the stunning village of Cheddar for Easter 2018 and explore all that the Somerset region has to offer for the chocolatiest time of year!

After the recent discovery of the Cheddar Man’s DNA, and the recent Channel 4 documentary, there has never been a better time to explore this historic part of the country. Cheddar Woods Lodge Retreat is just a short walk away from the Cheddar Gorge and Gough’s Cave, where the Cheddar Man was found, why not take an Easter break in luxury at Cheddar Woods and explore the historic, hidden caves? We are also only a 30-minute drive to Bath and Glastonbury, with the city of Wells only a 15-minute drive away, with so much so close, Cheddar Woods is the ideal place to base yourself while exploring the events and activities in Somerset for Easter 2018.

Make it Monday Easter!

When: 26th March / Where: Bishop’s Palace
Keep those little hands busy at this creative workshop in Bishop’s Palace in Wells. Used as the fictional town of Sandford in the cult hit Hot Fuzz, Wells will be familiar to most, but the real attraction is the Bishop’s Palace, with breathtakingly beautiful grounds to explore, a stunning house to discover and the famous adorable Swans who ring a bell outside the kitchen window when they want food. Bishop’s Palace is fun all year round, but this Easter the little ones can get stuck into the Make it Monday Easter activity, which includes making Easter cards and daffodil windmills, all the crafts will be made using the new spring flowers from the gardens. Visit the Bishop’s Palace and enjoy celebrating this fun of year your little ones!

Birds & Bubbles Family Fun Day

When: 25th March / Where: The Heliport (Weston super Mare)
Learn about everything that flies at the annual Helicopter Museum fun day! Meet a variety of beautiful owls and birds of prey, while learning all about them and getting the chance to get up close and personal and holding them for a wonderful photo op! you’ll also get to meet Somerset’s most friendly 7-foot owl mascot, Mr Aluco, and get your picture taken with him – and maybe a cuddle! All ages will be amazed by the Bubbleologists, marvel during the live show demonstrations, where audience participation is encouraged, and who knows, you might get completely encased in a bubble! Try out the flying Bubble Copter flight simulator and be amazed by the open cockpit sessions of the display helicopters.

Easter Fun

When: 27th March – 5th April / Where: Barrington Court
Teaming up with Cadbury, you can follow the clues of the Easter trail through the newly blooming gardens of Barrington Court to claim your delicious Cadbury Chocolate Egg! Join in on the Den Building sessions and enjoy a day of outdoor fun in the woods, creating your dream den, you’ll learn how to build a clever den from materials around you, including sticks, leaves and logs, then you can play in it to your hearts content!

Easter Activities

When: 24th – 8th April / Where: Bishop’s Palace
Find al the beautiful coloured eggs around the Bishop’s Palace gardens, follow the trail so you don’t miss any, mark them on your trail map then head back to the shop and claim your chocolate Easter prize! Visit the Bishop’s Palace on 30th March to take part in the Nature Ninja’s event, where the community garden at Bishop’s Palace will be hosting family gardening activities for all the family to get stuck into.

Glow in the Dark Eggs

When: Easter Holidays / Where: Cheddar Gorge Caves
Explore the hidden depths of Gough’s Cave and see how many glowing hidden eggs you can spot. You can visit the Cave where the Cheddar Man was found and see how archaeologists think he used the caverns and tools around the live, hunt and survive. If you’ve see the Channel 4 documentary about Cheddar Man your interested will be peaked and now is the ideal time to visit the beautiful Cheddar Gorge and see the history behind the TV show, while also spotting some fabulous glowing eggs and a possible chocolate surprise!
