bowlore medieval weekend

At: The Bishop’s Palace, BA5 2PD

Explore The Bishop’s Palace like never before and enjoy the fabulous re-enactors of Bowlore Medieval Weekend! there will be beautiful sword and archery displays and demonstrations to get involved with, and if you’re interested you can try out the ‘have a go’ sessions and test your skills. Visit the Costume Group who are happy to answer any questions and help you don your authentic (and heavy) chainmail, it’s also the place where you can meet beautiful birds including tiny owls! Proceeds of the day go towards the upkeep of The Bishop’s Palace, so you’ll know it’s all for a good cause!

When: 25th July – 2rd Sept, 10am – 5pm
Prices: Adult £19.95 / Child £14.95

Enjoy all the delights of the Gorge itself and take part one of the thousands of events taking place across the UK, all organised by the British Council of Archaeology. You can learn all about the local heritage and archaeology of the area and follow a brand new trail through the mysterious depths of Gough’s Cave, trying to identify an ancient inhabitant. You can also take part in making cave drawings and clay thumb pots, as well as digging through sand trays to see if you can spot an historical artefact from modern day red herrings.

Meet the newest friend of Wookey, Pirate Steve, who will tempting visitors with aphoto and a chance to walk the plank, as well as taking part in the daily Walkabout Pirate Parade. Explore the brand new chamber and tunnel that has been blasted and uncovered, revealing years old rock formations, learn how the caves were formed and who lived in them! The new 4D cinema will be showing the fantastic family favourite ‘Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs’, where you will be transported to the world of Manny and his friends from the comfort of 4D cinema seats, you’ll have the thrill of a lifetime! Be dazzled and enthralled at the new Super Hero Circus Show, which includes juggling, hula hooping, fantastic trapeze and magical illusions. And don’t forget to explore the Animatronic Dinosaurs, which are brand new for 2018 at the Wookey Hole!
