Take a trip to the theatre to shake off those Winter blues…

An abundance of shows and events are set to take place at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru over the Winter season. From comedy nights to a tribute act based on one of Liverpool’s most famous bands of the 60’s and don’t forget the annual Christmas pantomime – there is something for everyone. (Oh yes there is!)

So with the dark nights closing in and the weather not being the best, why not head to the theatre for an evening of entertainment to cheer you up!

Friends of Venue Cymru Present The Mersey Beatles

When: 24th November 2017

Enjoy an evening of classic Beatles music from four talented musicians. The Mersey Beatles will bring a taste of 60’s Liverpool to Llandudno and after the show DJ Adam Black will be playing all your favourite hits of the 60s.

Russian State Ballet and Opera House present Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet

When: 27th November – 28th November 2017

Featuring an impressive cast, the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and S Prokofiev and accompanied by a large live orchestra comprising of over 30 musicians, the Russian State Ballet and Opera House will bring Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet to the Llandudno stage.

One hundred and thirty-five years ago, audiences heard the Swan Lake music by the great Russian composer Tchaikovsky for the very first time and now the much-loved ballet is being brought to Llanduno along with Romeo and Juliet, the world’s best known love story by William Shakespeare.

Only Men Aloud

When: 2nd December 2017

For an evening of some of the best choir music this performance is the perfect choice. Only Men Aloud have gone from strength to strength since winning the BBC’s Last Choir Standing programme in 2008 and their show will feature many different styles of music, from Welsh Hymns to Folksongs, Opera and Musical Theatre! Tickets are £27.

Peter Pan – The High-Flying Panto Adventure

When: 9th – 31st December 2017

This year’s star-studded panto is set to bring plenty of laughs and Christmas sparkle to the Venue Cymru stage. Featuring former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, resident panto Dame Andy Jones and comedian Pauline Daniels! Get ready to set sail with Captain Hook and the Lost Boys for the Peter Pan Panto 2017!

Mamma Mia

When: 9th January – 14th January 2018

Bring a bit of Summer sunshine to your Winter nights thanks to the feel-good musical Mamma Mia, which is coming to Venue Cymru to cure your blues and bringing the Greek sunshine to Llandudno!

The story focuses on love, friendship and identity all cleverly knitted together with some of the best ABBA Classics. All of which will have you singing like a Dancing Queen at the end of the performance!

So Take a Chance on the Mamma Mia musical. Tickets start at £17.50


When: 26th – 28th January 2018

Join the Teletubbies as they move from screen to stage for their first ever live theatre show! It’s the perfect show to take your little ones and they can join Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po as they explore Teletubbyland.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

When: 16th February 2018

Experience an extraordinary collection of short films from the world’s most prestigious mountain film festival. Follow expeditions from some incredible adventurers and enjoy the breath-taking scenery on show too. This event is hugely popular so make sure you book early to be in with a chance of being part of the film festival! Tickets are £13.50.

Sarah Millican – Control Enthusiast

When: 23rd – 24th February 2018

The funny North East comedian is returning to the North Wales coast in February bringing her brand new stand-up tour with her! Tickets are only £27.50, so book your seat to be part of the evening of laughter as Sarah talks you through all the things that make her a Control Enthusiast…

Crazy For You

When: 27th February 2018 – 3rd March 2018

Packed with high energy, high kicking and glamorous performances get ready for the acclaimed Watermill Theatre production of Crazy for You, which is being brought to Venue Cymru in February.

Starring Tom Chambers (Top Hat and Strictly Come Dancing), Charlotte Wakefield (Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) as ‘Polly’ and Claire Sweeney (Brookside, Chicago, Educating Rita, Legally Blonde) as Irene, Crazy For You features a plenty of hits from the Gershwin brothers’ songbook.

From I Got Rhythm, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Nice Work If You Can Get It and Embraceable You there will be plenty of songs to get you up on your feet!
