The Duke of Cambridge: A Love Local
Welcome to another Love Local! This month we are looking at The Duke of Cambridge Pub, in Tilford Woods, Surrey!
Tilford Woods Lodge Retreat is a magical place to visit, surrounded by nature and only a short train journey away from London, and the excellent Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour. You can visit the sights and sounds of the busy studios, see the fantastical world of wizards and witches and then head back, put your feet up and enjoy the peace and tranquility that Tilford Woods offers. The Duke of Cambridge is a glorious pub to visit during your stay, boasting mouth watering food, a warm welcome and beautiful scenery.
Sitting proudly amongst the old pine trees in Tilford Woods, The Duke of Cambridge Pub is a fantastic country pub for all seasons! The great old trees have been there a long time (yes, severe understatement I know…) but for almost as long (as some of them) The Duke of Cambridge has sat in the middle, a welcome stop off for walkers and passers by. Drop in for a quick drink and some fantastic, locally sourced food!
Read on to learn all about this must-visit place…
Food! (My favourite topic…)
Lets talk food… my surname is Twist and I always want more (see what I did there?). Anyway, The Duke of Cambridge has delicious menus, with a whole range of choices to feast your eyes on. Head Chef Jay Williams is the passionate creator of the tasty food, he has worked his way up through the kitchen ranks over the years, crafted his own rustic style of classic hearty British dishes. He works with local farmers and food suppliers, so he can source all his ingredients as locally as possible, this means that the menu changes with the seasons, depending on what is in season at the time of the year. Ensuring there is always new things to try out!
Jay’s Sunday Roasts are so popular that it is best to book a table, or you might miss out! He is also famous for his take on the classic fishcake, a smoked haddock, salmon and cod fishcake, served with runny poached egg (my stomach is just rumbled writing that…). Definitely give that a go when you visit! Plenty of choice for kids and adults, meat lovers and veggies at The Duke!
Rewards! (Another favourite…)
Who doesn’t like to be rewarding for eating?! I bet you can’t name a single person… The Red Card Rewards club is a great way of getting rewards for having food and drinks, with not only The Duke but also their sister pubs too! You earn points for every pound you spend, once you get to 500 points, you then get a free £10 on your card, as well as them gifting you a free £10 on your card for your birthday! How great is that? Birthday money from people you don’t even know, fantastic!
The Duke! (of Cambridge Pub…)
The pub itself is picturesque, with large patios outside to enjoy the good weather, along with a garden area that has its own bar and grill for those warm summer evenings (and maybe some live music too). They have a great outdoor kids play area too, recently renovated for the little ‘uns to run around and enjoy! And on those colder nights, no fear, the stunning, cosy indoor fires will keep Jack Frost at bay (ever see that movie?!) there is also a large and heated patio room too, so you can enjoy all the scenery of being outside, but still be warm.
The Duke also often have great offers available, like Champagne Thursdays, start the weekend early and enjoy this fun sounding deal! Or indulge in the Dine for £10 deal, on every Monday to Thursday for either lunch or dinner, this deal is back by popular demand, a mid-week treat for everyone! Enjoy a delicious fresh dish and a drink, the menu changes for this deal so make sure to sign up to their newsletter to hear what dishes they have coming up!
So the next time you’re at Tilford Woods Lodge Retreat, or just dropping through Surrey, why not pop into The Duke of Cambridge, and enjoy some fantastic, mouth-watering food and a relaxing drink to boot!
Happy Adventuring Guys and Dolls!
