Travel back to the 1960s with The Beatles Story exhibition to learn more about the Fab Four…

Liverpool was one of THE music hotspots of the 1960s, with a number of bands and performers originating from the city at this time who would go on to take the world by storm. This included Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers and of course The Beatles who are often thought of as the godfathers of modern music.

The story of The Beatles from their inception to their final album is faithfully retold at the award-winning Beatles Story located in the bands home city of Liverpool.

An Atmospheric Journey

The Beatles Story is the world’s largest exhibition devoted solely to The Beatles and is a mecca for fans of the band from around the world.

There are various exhibitions to be explored within the museum, with each room aiming to replicate a key location which helps to tell the story of the world famous band. It truly is a fantastic, atmospheric experience, which is both interesting and informative even for people with merely a passing interest in their music. The audio guide is narrated by John Lennon’s sister Julia and provides fascinating details as you explore each room.

You will start off in the Casbah Club where the Beatles did their first live performances before moving onto a stunning replication of the world famous ‘Cavern Club’ where The Beatles did many of their early performances and cemented a reputation which would lead to their meteoric rise to fame. The whole stage and bar is replicated down to the smallest detail, save for the alcoholic beverages and screaming fans.

Other popular rooms include the ‘White Room’ dedicated to John Lennon and a psychedelic imagining of the ‘Yellow Submarine’ among many more. You will also get the opportunity to see famous artifacts, including a pair of John Lennon’s round spectacles and also George Harrison’s first guitar.

There is also plenty to keep children entertained in the Discovery Zone which features interactive screens in a fun-packed workshop where there are a plethora of activities in which to partake. Children will even get the opportunity to their very own newspaper and tune a giant piano.

Worth the trip

If you are staying at Talacre Beach Holiday Home Park, Liverpool is only a short trip taking approximately one hour by car. However, it is certainly worth the journey if you don’t come to the North West too often. The Beatles Story itself is located on Albert Dock which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will also find the Tate Liverpool and a range of quality bars, restaurants and cafes.

Significant investment has gone into Liverpool over the past decade due the 2008 Capital of Culture bid. This has transformed the city into one of the prides of the region with one of the stand out additions being the brand new Liverpool One shopping district.

So the next time you are taking a holiday in North Wales at Talacre Beach, make sure you pay a visit to Liverpool and The Beatles Story and really make a day of it.
