MacMillan Coffee Morning 2016 at Darwin Escapes

MacMillan Cancer Support have a worldwide coffee morning every year, and every year Darwin Escapes raises money for the very special cause. One in three of us will be affected by Cancer at some point in our lives, and MacMillan offer support to sufferers and family members a like, ensuring that no one beats Cancer alone.

This year we added a little healthy competition in the mix with a Darwin Escapes HQ Bake Off, the winner of the Bake Off would get to wear a swanky badge, have a fancy certificate and most importantly win a bottle of Prosecco. There was also a prize for the best ‘faker’ as not everyone has the time to bake, they would win a certificate and a bottle of champagne too! The stage was set, so we had Group Head Chef Ryan and Talacre Beach’s Head Chef Paul to come and judge the entries, they did a fantastic job and made some tough choices.

There is never enough cake in the world and luckily we have some class act bakers here at Darwin Escapes HQ! Well done to all our bakers and fakers, and a special mention to Laura Hurst who’s lemon drizzle cake came in a close second! The ‘Special Brownies’ were special because they had glitter in them, just to clarify, and they tasted delicious! Did you see the amazing Oreo cupckaes with a dash of gold no less? Claire Lloyd definitely stepped up her baking game this year! We hope you dug deep and had an endless flow of cakes for your awesome MacMillan Coffee Morning!
