To celebrate World Book Day, here at DE HQ we thought we would chose two wonderful YA (Young Adult) books to read!
Young Adult books offer fascinating stories for all ages, filled with teen angst all teenagers can relate to and all adults can feel nostalgic about. The genre is broad and covers many of the most popular stories of today, including The Mortal Instruments series, which is currently a popular Netflix Original show, and the massive book and screen hit, The Fault in Our Stars, as well as one of my favourites, Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist.
So what are some of 2017’s most anticipated YA books?
Wonder Woman: Warbringer
By Leigh Bardugo
With the Wonder Woman movie hitting theatres in June 2017, this coming of age tale will sure to be a big hit. We all know Diana, Princess of the Amazon’s, as Wonder Woman, one of the world’s greatest super hero’s, but how did she start? Longing to prove herself to her legendary warrior sisters it seems, but when her time comes to prove herself, she risks exile, breaks Amazon law and throws her chance away for a mortal.
But Diana may have doomed the world, because Alia isn’t just a normal mortal, she is being hunted, although she doesn’t yet know it. Together, Alia and Diana will confront truths, face an army of enemies, both mortal and divine, and they must stand together if they hold any hope of saving both their worlds.
A fantastic new look at a much loved character, by a number 1, New York Times bestselling author. This is sure to be a huge hit with all ages, those wanting to learn more and those wanting to relive their favourite character.
Kill All Happies
By Rachel Cohn
Vic wants to throw the most epic graduation party ever seen, a fantastic farewell to her best friends and a goodbye to her little town’s claim to fame restaurant Happies, which is closing down the same night. Oh and she wants to finally hook up with her crush, Jake, before it’s too late. But it has to stay secret so the Town Councilwoman, and Vic’s Economic’s teacher, Miss Thrope doesn’t find ou and have Vic arrested!
But when the alcohol’s flowing and the music’s playing, Happies fans from all over start showing up in their droves to bid their farewells to their favourite place to eat. Suddenly the small graduation bash turns into a Coachella style festival, the night is so not going to plan, but maybe that’s the best part?
A fun story that will have everyone giggling and tearing up with nostalgia of your graduation, or building excitement for those who are awaiting that end of school party!
There are too many fantastic YA books out in 2017 to mention here, but make sure to keep an out for P.C Cast’s new YA series ‘Moon Chosen’ for more fantasy fiction, or The Whole Thing Together from Ann Brashares for a romance filled tale.
Happy World Book Day!
