the 42nd island steam show

When: 26th – 29th August

The annual and traditional Island Steam Show is now so apart of the history of the island that it would be a huge shame to miss out! The action packed show is a great family fun day out, there are motorcycle stunts from “On The Edge” stunt riders for the adventures souls out there, as well as tight rope walking, birds of prey encounters and oddball skills Greg Chapman’s Condensed Histories comedy show too! There will be local bands and live music to tap your foot to, fun fairground rides as well as working steam demonstrations, vintage cars and motorcycles to marvel at too, or jump on a steam train and have a relaxing ride through the islands unspoilt scenery. A truly traditional family fun day out for all.


Blackgang Chine: magical summer nights

When: 29th August

Blackgang Chine is a fun family amusement park, with a huge programme of events all year round, located on the beautiful Blackgang Chine Cliffside, overlooking the sandy beaches of the Isle of Wight. The Magical Summer Nights take place every Monday night throughout the summer holidays, and all your favourite Blackgang Chine friends will be there, dodo and dino, the cowboys, the pirates and the fairy queen will all help you have a fun night! There will be potion making, fairy stilt walkers, the dino & dodo show, as well as activities like making crowns with the fairy queen and fun pirate shenanigans! There will also be live music to enjoy and a brand new evening lazer show finale, with pyrotechnics and music, bringing together the Blackgang Chine gang for a storytelling with a twist!


Robin Hill: carnival time

When: Throughout the summer

Robin Hill is channelling the spirit of Rio with stunning night time entertainment. A carnival procession through the beautiful woodland with a super fun live samba band! There will be Brazilian dance workshops, fun entertainment including spooky new illusions by Aaron Isted. As well as the new ‘Owls by Twilight’ show in the newly renovated Woodland Ampitheatre, the perfect place to watch these beautiful birds of prey swoop above your heads and learn more about the fascinating and magical animals.
