It’s important to feel at home in your holiday home

Have you recently bought your first holiday home and want to make it feel like a true home from home? Or have you had your lodge or caravan for a while now and just looking for a couple tips on how to make sure it feels like home? We’ve put together some quick and easy tips and tricks to make your caravan or lodge feel like a true home away from home. All of our ideas will hopefully make you feel cosy and comfortable in your new holiday home, making it the perfect place for you to get away and relax. Have a look through our advice below…

Keep everything organised…

As soon as you get to your holiday home put away and unpack your suitcase. We associate our suitcases with holidays so keep it out of sight, this should hopefully start to make you feel a touch more at home, after all, you wouldn’t leave your suitcase out at home.

Bring your kitchen essentials…

Make sure you bring all of the essentials that you have at home, ultimately you come on holiday to relax so you don’t want to be struggling in the kitchen causing unnecessary stress. This could be the little things like making sure you have large enough pots and pans or bigger things like a slow cooker, I certainly couldn’t go without my espresso machine. Whatever you use daily at home is a must in your home away from home.

Make it smell like it home…

Get rid of that new caravan smell and bring some of your favourite scented candles and diffusers to make your holiday home smell like home.

Bring some bedding…

You don’t want to be left with that feeling of wanting to get back to your own bed, bring the same bedding and pillows you love to use at home. You’ll be feeling at home in no time when you have countless good night’s sleep.

Add some finishing touches…

Finish off your holiday home with touches that make you feel cosy and at home. Simple caravan decor ideas make all the difference, such as bringing throws and blankets to get snuggly under in the evenings, and why not bring some throw cushions and a rug to help bring a cosy homely atmosphere in the lounge. You could even bring some battery powered fairy lights which aren’t too bright to wrap around the fireplace to create a warming ambience.

So next time you head on over to your holiday home, don’t forget our tips and tricks and hopefully, you will feel at home in no time!
