Summer Events

At: The Bishop’s Palace, BA5 2PD

When: 4th – 30th August, 10am – 6pm

Prices: Adult £7.99 / Child £3.35 / Family £ 19.25

At The Bishop’s Palace you can soak up the sun in the gardens and visit the famous bell-ringing swans! As well as enjoying a whole range of summer activities, including Wacky Weather Family Fun Day, with weather based crafts where you can make rainbows, wind socks and wall hangings! The Midsummer Mayhem takes place on the south lawn, and this annual fun day is filled with games, dressing up, face painting, bouncy castles, crafts and activities. Join the Nature Ninjas and try your hand at pond dipping, mini-beast hunting and a chance to taste some of the fruit and veg grown in the community garden too! The Boxtree Production Company will be performing a new rendition of the fabulous Wind in the Willows at the Outdoor Family Theatre. Finishing of the school holidays is the Bowlore Medieval Weekend, with activities including longbow, crossbow, weapons demonstrations, sword lessons, historical talks, battlefield medicine and a brilliant medieval tented encampment!


Summer Sculptures

At: Glastonbury Abbey, BA6 9EL

When: 1st July – 1st Oct. 9am – 8pm

Prices: Adult £8.25 / Child £4.95 / Family £21.45

Visit this historic Glastonbury Abbey and follow the sculpture trail where the work of 17 very talented West Country sculptors will be on show in the beautiful setting of the Abbey ruins.


Festival of Archaeology

At: Cheddar Gorge BS27 3QF

When: 15th July – 3rd Sept, 10am – 5pm

Prices: Adult £19.95 / Child £16.95

Enjoy all the delights of the Gorge itself and take part one of the thousands of events taking place across the UK, all organised by the British Council of Archaeology. You can learn all about the local heritage and archaeology of the area and follow a brand new trail through the mysterious depths of Gough’s Cave, trying to identify an ancient inhabitant. You can also take part in making cave drawings and clay thumb pots, as well as digging through sand trays to see if you can spot an historical artefact from modern day red herrings.


King Arthur Workshop

At: Glastonbury Abbey, BA6 9EL

When: 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th August, 9am – 8pm

Prices: Adult £8.25 / Child £4.95 / Family £21.45

Glastonbury Abbey offers you the perfect opportunity to discover the legend of King Arthur from a new angle. This themed interactive family drama workshop is provided by members of the Living History Team, so expect a fun day out! Travel back in time to discover the past in a unique style!


Summer Holidays Fun

At: Wookey Hole, BA5 1BB

When: 22nd July – 3rd Sept, 10am – 5pm

Prices: Adult £19 / Child £15 (day tickets)

Find fun and adventure at Wookey Hole, one of Somerset’s most popular attractions throughout the year! Meet the Witch of Wookey Hole who will be meeting and greeting visitors to welcome you into the unknown! Meet the newest friend of Wookey, Pirate Steve, who will tempting visitors with aphoto and a chance to walk the plank, as well as taking part in the daily Walkabout Pirate Parade. Explore the brand new chamber and tunnel that has been blasted and uncovered, revealing years old rock formations, learn how the caves were formed and who lived in them! The new 4D cinema will be showing the new movie ‘Happy Family’, where you will start your journey in the Witch’s laboratory and meet Harold, the witch’s best bat friend, before feeling the air on your face and hearing the pounding of feet around you in the cinema. Be dazzled and enthralled at the new Super Hero Circus Show, which includes juggling, hula hooping, fantastic trapeze and magical illusions. There is so much more at Wookey Hole this Summer!
