The St. Helen’s Festival is a well honoured tradition and at over 100 years old, it is one of the oldest carnivals in the country. A relaxed and fun family atmosphere with loads to do, the village sports activities features something for all ages including tug of war, egg and spoon races, sack and skipping races, a specialist toddlers race and fun veterans race too, something from tots to nanas! There is some great afternoon entertainment on offer, live music, a wonderful craft fair with stalls to buy some unique and handmade gifts, followed by the annual Carnival Procession through St Helen’s high street.
When: 27th – 29th August
Taking place at the Ventnors Botanic Gardens, the Healing Festival is in its sixth year. Three days of healing your mind, body and soul kicks off with yoga and relaxing tai chi classes at 6am (yup, you read that right, 6am) every morning, setting you up right for the day ahead. You can enjoy treatments such as full body massages, reflexology, reiki and nature healing, as well as visiting specialist in all healing fields, including herbalists and dream interpretation. Have a go at hula hooping, sit and relax at the story telling exhibition and visit the craft stalls for unique gifts and quirky craft ideas. The festival aims to leave you feeling calm, balanced, energised and above all, smiling when you leave.
When: 27th August
An annual Illumination Carnival that travels through the town of Cowes on the August Bank Holiday lighting up the streets. Marvel at the fantastic ‘Rule Britannia’ float, while listening to Ventnor’s Comic Jazz Band who will be joining the carnival for the first time in over 25 years! Keep an eye out for the team of Ghost Busters and Mas Fusion with their fabulous costumes in the parade too. A fun night of beautiful displays and floats delicately and brilliantly illuminated for you to enjoy.
